Maximized Tread Life

  • As a rule of thumb, there is a 30% increase in tire wear if the tire is 20 psi below the correct pressure.*

  • Running a truck tire with 20% under inflation for 50 miles can destroy the casing of the tire which prevents the usage of that casing for future re-treading.

Environmental Impacts

 

Reduced Carbon Emissions:

The maximized fuel efficiency will automatically reduce Carbon Emissions:

  • Every 1 liter of consumed Diesel fuel puts out 2.7kg of CO₂*

  • Every 1 gallon of consumed Diesel fuel puts out 22.5lbs of CO₂*

Example: A regular 10 wheel truck driving 160,000 km (100,000 miles) each year will, on average, put out 64 metric tons LESSCO₂ (over 141,000 lbs) during a 10 year period simply by maintaining the correct tire pressures.**

Other Environmental Impacts:

Decreased tire wear will automatically leave less rubber in the environment:

  • From the thread wear due to under inflation, smaller particles will become airborne and larger ones will be left on the road side to be washed away with rainwater into lakes, rivers, streams, etc. Tire rubber contains a variety of different chemicals, some of which are pollutants.*

  • By changing tires less often, the amount of used tires in landfills will be reduced.

  • About 50 kg less rubber is needed to re-thread a tire than to produce a new tire.**

Example: A regular 10 wheel truck driving 160,000 km (100,000 miles) each year will, on average, put out 1 metric ton (~2,200 lbs) LESS RUBBER on the road side over a 10 year period if the truck is equipped with TPMS. This calculation does not take into consideration landfills and the negative environmental impact in not being able to re-thread some casings.***
